As much as we were complaining about the long winter only a couple of months ago, we are now complaining about the persisting heat. And how better to fight the high temperatures (expecting 37ºC today!!) than with a watermelon slice in your hand (or in your glass)!
The best way to eat a watermelon? Chilled (directly from the refridgerator) and sliced. No arguing about that. But you know what? Watermelon does make a nice drink, too! And a sorbet! Yesterday morning, while I was seeding the watermelon for our afternoon treat, I put some slices of it into the blender jar (which just happened to be sitting on the kitchen counter) and pureed them. Following an instinct, I poured in some kefir and made a sip. Not bad at all!!
I took some more watermelon slices and pureed them, then I added some lemon juice and martini rosso and I made a watermelon punch! A nice drink for a summer night on the terrace. 😉
