Postcard from lake Zbilje
Last Sunday was anything but a pleasant day for going out, it was chilly and drizzly, but we were invited for lunch in a small village called Zbilje, located about half an hour outside of Ljubljana. It is known as a popular summer escape for Ljubljana people, who are attracted mostly by the artificial lake, named after the village, and its lovely feathery inhabitants.

Zbiljsko jezero - Lake Zbilje
The lake itself originates back from 1953 when they constructed a hydroelectric plant in a place nearby (Medvode) and created a lake on the existing river Sava (the longest Slovenian river). You can rent a boat in summer and I guess it must be fun. The dozens of swans and ducks seem to be used to people’s presence and as soon as we came closer, they got excited, waiting for breadcrumbs that people would usually feed them on. We will certainly have to come back in summer!

Cute little things

They were not shy at all
